Windshield Repair Questions?
Frequently Asked Questions From Prospective Customers
Q. What equipment and supplies are included with a Delta Kits windshield repair system?
A. A parts list is included with the description of each windshield repair system in the Delta Kits catalog. For more information, contact Delta Kits customer service.
Q. Will I have to buy anything else to start a windshield repair business?
A. You will need glass cleaner, invoices, business cards, and other office supplies. Everything else is supplied with each complete windshield repair system sold. Additional items such as a moisture evaporator, crack expander, sun shield, hood cover, double ended scribe and other optional items are very helpful in many instances but are not absolutely necessary. Delta Kits will be happy to custom design a system that will best fit your individual needs.
Q. Does Delta Kits supply training?
A. A free training and certification course is offered. A comprehensive instruction manual, training video and unlimited toll free technical support is included with each complete Delta Kit windshield repair system sold. Most customers find that because Delta Kits windshield repair systems are a cinch to use, they can learn to do quality repairs in one day or less.
Q. What is included in the Delta Kits training course?
A. At Delta Kits you get the training you need, when you need it. We do not build high priced training packages into our repair system prices or try to convince you that you need to go to school for extended periods to become proficient at windshield repair. Our one day training course is dedicated mostly to hands on windshield repair, although we also touch on many other issues you will face as a windshield repair technician. If you feel you need additional training, we will customize it to your individual needs. Some customers need help generating leads, some need basic business advice, some need technical assistance and others need a combination of these. For more information about training visit our training page at http://www.deltakits.com/training/.
Q. How do I get a video or other information?
A. Request a video to be sent to you via priority mail, or send us an e-mail along with your name address and phone number. Be specific about what information you are requesting and if you would like it sent by e-mail or by US mail. Requests from outside the country for mailed materials will require a $10 charge to cover shipping.
Q. Can I get a demonstration?
A. Certainly! If you set up an appointment, you can visit our headquarters in beautiful Eugene Oregon and we can demonstrate our products! Also, we do have a great promotional video that is free to individuals in the United States and is available for a minimal shipping & handling cost to individuals outside the United States. We will even credit the shipping cost toward your first purchase.
Q. How many windshield repairs can I do before purchasing more supplies?
A. With your initial windshield repair kit purchase, you average about 100 repairs. The cost to purchase enough product to repair another 100 windshields, only costs about $100.00 or $1.00 per repair. This includes Premium Bond Resin, Premium Pit Resin, cylinder seals, carbide burs, curing film, etc.
Q. How long will my Delta Kits windshield repair system last?
A. Most of the first kits we sold back in 1984 are still being used today. With proper care we expect your Delta Kit to last until you retire! In fact our bridge bases and stainless steel injectors are so tough, they are guaranteed for as long as you own them.
Q. Some windshield repair system manufacturers say that you need to vacuum all the air out of a break before injecting the windshield repair resin, is this true?
A. Of course not. Think of an empty pop can. It is full of air but you do not need to suck the air out of it before you fill it right? In fact if you did, the pop can would collapse. The same is true for a windshield repair. As the resin flows into the break the air is forced to the outside edge. When the vacuum cycle is initiated, the air is pulled up through the resin and into the injector. When the injector plunger is locked in the top position the air is released through the top of the injector. As the air is removed it is replaced by resin.
Q. Does Delta Kits offer a franchise?
A. No. A franchise only protects your territory against other franchisees from the same company but does nothing to protect you from competitors using other repair systems. Franchises generally have requirements for how much product you must buy, whom you must buy it from and what kinds of products you must use. In addition, if you want to move or expand your business, you may find that a franchise prohibits you from doing so. Like most business owners, you will work hard to be a success and we see no reason that you should be forced to share your income with Delta Kits or anyone else. Some windshield repair franchises have only a hundred or so franchisees, while Delta Kits has thousands of satisfied customers worldwide. In our opinion a franchise has very little to offer the windshield repair industry.
Q. What if I have more questions?
A. Contact a Delta Kits representative who will be happy to answer any and all questions you may have!
Auto glass repair kits by Delta Kits offer great opportunities for entrepeneurs looking to get started in the windshield repair business.
