"A wise youth works hard all summer; a youth who sleeps away the hour of opportunity brings shame."
Proverbs 10:5 NLT

When I read this verse the other morning it hit me that this is how I feel about life. Life goes by way to quickly to waste time doing nothing. When we are young it seems that we have all the time in the world to get things done, but as we get older and look back on our lives, it’s very easy to see how much we could have accomplished if we would have worked a bit harder, and if we had not passed up so many of the opportunities that were presented us.

You will have many opportunities throughout your life, but many of the opportunities available to you today will soon be gone, and you may never get a second chance to take advantage of them. I encourage you to do as many things as you possibly can in your youth. I know that it is often hard work, but hard work is always rewarding, and there is no reward for laziness.

I know, sometimes we just want to relax, and there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, relaxing is an essential part of our health and well being. However, there is a big difference between relaxing and doing nothing. Relaxing should be doing something that makes you feel good, not only when you are doing it, but after you have finished doing it, and I guarantee that wasting time will not make you feel good once you realize that time is gone forever.
