A common mistake that students in our training class make is wiping the excess resin from the pit area before applying pit resin. Using a cloth or paper towel to wipe or dab out the extra resin can actually wick up resin from within the break and cause air pockets to reappear. I recommend wiping the glass UNDER the repair only AFTER the pit resin is applied and the break is being cured. Another problem with wiping the pit area is that lint or paper fibers from your towel can be trapped inside the break.

Another common mistake is removing the bridge while the injector is in the vacuum position. Remember to always finish each repair in the pressure position. Removing the bridge while in the vacuum position may allow resin to escape from the repair and cause those pesky air pockets to reappear.

I know that these little things may not seem like a big deal, but the key to great windshield repairs is in the details. If you are having problems with your repairs, don’t forget that Delta Kits offers free telephone, email, and online live chat technical support.
