Delta Kits chose Life Outreach International as the recipient of our largest charitable contribution for the month of June. I will explain why in just a moment, but first I would like to explain why I feel it is so important to help others when you can.

Almost all of us can donate at least a little time and/or money to a charitable cause, and every time we do, I believe we grow a little stronger. I wish I could say my motivation for giving is entirely unselfish, but the truth is that helping someone in need probably does as much for me as it does for the one receiving the gift. Anyone who knows me knows what a penny pincher I am, so believe me when I tell you that it hurts a little every time I write a check to my favorite charity. However, that hurt is quickly replaced by the warm feeling that comes from knowing that there is a purpose to my life that runs deeper than just making it through another day.

I always preach that time is money, so I’m typically very selfish with my time, but still end up volunteering for various things from time to time. Each time I do so it is done begrudgingly, but after all is said and done I’m always glad for the experience. It may be selfish, but giving to others recharges your spirit and helps you to be more productive in your day to day activities, or at least that’s how it makes me feel.

Life Outreach International builds homes for people that live in the worst of conditions, offers crisis relief when the unexpected happens, and offers medical assistance to the sick and dying all over the world. My favorite Life Outreach programs provide food and fresh water for thousands of people that are dying because they cannot even afford these basic necessities.

These are all reasons that I have chosen to donate to Life Outreach in the past, but in June Life Outreach was offered a grant of more than $3,000,000 in food supplies for their feeding program in Angola, if they can raise an additional $300,000 to guarantee distribution in areas of need. What this means is that if they reach their goal, every dollar donated will have a 10:1 impact! I am always trying to find ways to stretch a dollar, so that is very exciting
news to me.
