As most of you know, State Farm no longer has their deductible waiver for
windshield repair in most states. We have been fielding calls from
technicians wondering when their state will be making the change. Here is
the list of states that are still waiving deductibles and the dates that
those states will be removing their deductible waiver.
Alaska- October 1st
Connecticut- To Be Determined
Hawaii- November 1st
Kentucky- September 1st
Missouri- September 1st
Massachusetts- To Be Determined
Wyoming- To Be Determined
New Mexico- August 1st
New York- October 1st
North Carolina- To Be Determined
Oregon- October 15th
Tennessee- September 1st
Texas- To Be Determined
West Virginia- September 1st
I know that many in our industry are very nervous about the impact of these
changes. Early reports from our customers are mixed. Some have had no
trouble selling the State Farm customers on a cash job, while others feel
they are losing business because of the change.
I feel it is very important to remember that windshield repair is still the
best option for anyone with repairable damage, even if they are paying for
it themselves. Just make sure to focus on the benefits. Touting the fact
that you can save them time, money and an insurance claim on their record,
are all important in selling a cash repair.
It is still too early to tell just what kind of impact these changes will
make, but this year, despite the changes at State Farm, Delta Kits and many
of our customers are having our best year ever.
