As many of you know, State Farm has removed their deductible waiver for
windshield repair. What that means is that State Farm will no longer waive
their customer’s deductible for a windshield repair. State Farm will still
be recommending repair to their policyholders when appropriate, however. It
appears that most of the insurance industry will continue to waive
deductibles for the foreseeable future.
When this change was first announced, many in our industry were worried
that it may have a devastating effect on our business. That just hasn’t been
the case. Our industry is stronger than ever. Windshield repair is still the
best option for anyone that has stone damage even if they are paying for it
themselves. Many of our customers have just modified their sales approach
with their State Farm customers. Remember, $50 for a repair still looks a
lot better than paying their $250 deductible for that replacement.
We will be hearing from State Farm at this year’s AGRSS show in Las Vegas
on November 2nd and 3rd, and will report back to you in the next Wise Crack.
