Video Description: Delta Kits Headlight Restoration System
In this video, we demonstrate how to restore a headlight using a previous model of a Delta Kits Headlight Restoration System. If you look closely, you will notice the headlight has been discolored. Acid rain, humidity, insects, chemicals, road debris, salt, pollution and sunlight all contribute to the oxidation and discoloration of headlights. Note that the new Delta Kits headlight restoration systems utilize the following sanding discs: 302 grit, 600 grit, 1500 grit and 300 grit.
For the first step, he masks off around the vehicle’s lens.
Next, he sprays with CLEAN2PREP restoration prep (part number: HLC2PREP08) and wipes it dry.
He begins the process of removing the oxidation by sanding with a 320-grit sanding disc (part number: HLSDI 320-30). He sands evenly. Notice the technician doesn’t sand in one spot for too long, because doing so may harm the lens.
During the restoration process, a build-up of dust may occur on the lens. If desired, you may spray with restore prep, or water and wipe dry as shown.
He repeats the process with a 600 grit sanding disc (part number: HLSDI 600-30).
Spray with CLEAN2PREP, or water and wipe dry.
Notice the oxidation has been removed and the lens is now clear. He continues sanding with a 1500 grit sanding disc (part number: HLSDI 1500-30) to remove the scratches from the lens. Once again, the technician has removed the dust buildup from the lens.
Then, he polishes with a 3200 grit polishing disc (part number: HLSDI 3200-30).
Previously, it was optional to remove the dust particles between steps. However, at this point it is mandatory as you must prepare the lens for the COAT2PROTECT UV coating (part number: HLC2PROT8). The UV coat and catalyst is a one-to-one mixing ratio. Pour them into the cup provided in your kit and swirl the cup around.
Apply the UV coating with a lint-free shop towel. Technically, the technician would wipe the lens from side to side. However, due to the irregular shape of this particular lens, the tech is forced to deviate from the standard procedure and wipe the lens differently.
Note that the UV coating has been applied. Allow it to dry for 30 minutes. Also, avoid washing the vehicle for 24 hours. This headlight restoration eliminates the need for costly replacements, enhances the vehicle's appearance and increases the vehicle's resale value.
