Going Green At Delta Kits
With the environment at the fore front of many people’s minds these days and with everyone going green many companies are following suit and taking more care to protect the environment.
Therefore, when you receive an order from Delta Kits, you may notice that we've reused a box. Furthermore, we also reuse packaging material, often from local businesses who would otherwise take their new or gently used packing items to the landfill (so if you get "bubble wrap" or "peanuts" - you'll know it's post-consumer). We also use Cradle to Cradle certified boxes when shipping through the U.S. Postal Service. These boxes have been recognized for their ecologically-intelligent design. Since the inception of our going green initiative we have shipped nearly every outgoing parcel with 100% reused, recycled, or biodegradable shipping materials.
Also, we publish a monthly Wise Crack Newsletter and distribute coupons and special promotional offers via email and on our windshield repair forum. The Wise Crack Newsletter is available online instead of a mailing, which would produce a significant amount of waste. Copies are only printed on demand, when needed, using eco-friendly inks and paper.

Previous Edition of What's Wrong With This Picture
Standing on plastic bucket: It pays to take some extra precautions, so always use a ladder to stand on instead of a bucket.
Repair on non-laminated glass: Technicians should always check the glass identification marker (bug) to determine the type of glass you are working on (laminated or tempered). Tempered glass is non-repairable.
Belt buckle against boat: Wearing a belt with an exposed metal belt buckle can scratch or scrape the paint of a vehicle. Also, belt buckles can easily snag onto surrounding objects and exposed metal can be dangerous if it comes in contact with other metal or electrical parts located under the hood.

Tech Tip Why Denatured Alcohol?
Last month we detailed how to clean the Delta Kits Injector, and in case you forgot. Delta Kits recommends that if you are using Delta Kits windshield repair equipment to be sure that you clean your injector after every use with denatured alcohol. This month we will explain why denatured alcohol.
Denatured alcohol is safe to use for the cleaning of all plastic, aluminum, stainless steel, nickel plated, and anodized windshield repair injectors. Use only denatured alcohol to clean Delta Kits injectors.
Denatured alcohol is also safe to use to clean all your Delta Kits windshield repair equipment, including lights, bridge bases, injector seals, and of course injectors, but it is not recommended to be used on labels, logos, and other printed products.
Denatured alcohol is also a better choice than pure ethanol because it is considerably less expensive, and a better choice than rubbing alcohol, which contains about 30% water, and does not dry as quickly as denatured alcohol.
Denatured alcohol is basically ethanol with one or more additional chemicals added to it to render in unfit for human consumption. While those chemicals vary, the typical denatured alcohol that you find at your local hardware and paint stores has methyl alcohol (methanol) added.
As with any industrial cleaner or solvent, chemical resistant gloves and eyewear should always be worn when using Denatured Alcohol.

Safety Tip Use Protection
Resin uses ultra violet rays to cure, so be sure to protect yourself and equipment from ultra violet rays. It isn't possible or practical to completely avoid sunlight, and it would be unwise to reduce your level of activity and productivity to avoid the outdoors. Sunlight assists your body in making vitamin D, which can be essential for good health, but too much sunlight can be harmful. However, there are some steps you can take to limit your amount of exposure to UV rays.
While working in the sun, wear clothing to protect as much skin as possible. Long-sleeved shirts, long pants, or long skirts cover a large amount of skin and are the most protective. Dark colors generally provide more protection than light colors.
Sunscreen is applied to your skin to help protect against the sun's UV rays, although it does not provide total protection it does help and you can find it available in many forms such as-- lotions, creams, ointments, gels, wipes, and lip balms.
