Please join Delta Kits at the 2009 NWRA Marketing Conference
The annual National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA) marketing conference is being held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in conjunction with NACE again this year. The NWRA marketing conference begins on November 5th with the 4th annual Windshield Repair Olympics, and continues on to November 6th with a variety of seminars, demonstrations, and networking opportunities. Delta Kits and other windshield repair manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers will also be on hand in a high impact selling environment designed to motivate, educate, and entertain at the NACE show which runs from November 5th through 7th. For more information about the NWRA conference or the Windshield Repair Olympics click on the following links. NWRA and Repair Olympics
The International Auto body Congress and Exposition (NACE) was created to provide buyers and sellers within the collision repair community a place to network, learn about technological advancements, and see all the products, services, equipment, and technology available to industry professionals. Although NACE is primarily a collision repair event, windshield repair technicians typically find plenty of things that are of interest to them. One such example is headlight restoration which makes a great add on service for windshield repair technicians. Click here for more information about NACE.
If you want to make a full week of it, the SEMA show is being held at the Las Vegas convention center November 3rd through the 6th, and the AAPEX show is being at the Sands expo and convention center November 3rd through the 5th. Although not geared so much toward the windshield repair technician, the SEMA show is the largest of its kind and if you like cars you can spend several days there taking pictures and drooling over all the nice rides. The AAPEX show is everything automotive, and while there is not as much eye candy as there is at the SEMA show, it is very interesting to see all the new technology in the automotive industry. Here are links to more information for the SEMA and AAPEX shows.
Speaking from experience, it is difficult to try to take in all of these shows in their entirety one week, but we do hope you will stop and visit Delta Kits at the 2009 NACE show, take in the Windshield Repair Olympics, and attend the NWRA seminars and networking events November 5-7. This is one event windshield repair technicians don't want to miss!

Safety Tip- Razor Blades
On every windshield repair you should be using a new razor blade, but how do you dispose of the razor blade after you complete your windshield repair?
Unfortunately razor blades are one of the few products that cannot be easily recycled according to local authorities and our Internet searches on the subject. However razor blades should never be thrown into the trash without taking proper precautions first. So, here are some ideas for safe disposal.
Specially made razor blade disposal containers or sharps containers are probably the safest option, and can be purchased from your local safety supply store or from a variety of Internet stores. At Delta Kits we use a red sharps safe disposal container with a self-locking lid to collect used razor blades. When completely filled we dispose of the entire container in accordance with local regulations.
A more economical option is to use an empty plastic container with a screw-on lid. Keep in mind the container needs to be puncture-resistant as serious injuries may occur when still-sharp blades poke through trash bags or other unsuitable containers. Empty anti-freeze, bleach, and detergent jugs are made of heavy plastic, have large enough opening, and are very good for this purpose. Fill your container with your old blades until the container is full. Be sure to clearly mark the container “USED RAZOR BLADES”, and call your local sanitation department for proper disposal recommendations.
Please make your own safety and the safety of others your highest priority. It does not have to be expensive or time consuming.

New Product Alert HX1000 Heat X-Changer
The HX1000 Heat X-Changer works as a heat sink, removing heat from the glass and transferring it into the tool. The specially designed radial cooling fins allow the heat to rapidly dissipate so the tool heats slowly and cools quickly after use. The HX1000 is the fastest and safest way for a technician to cool the damage area prior to starting the repair process.
• 2” Surface diameter
• Anodized 7075 T6 Aircraft Aluminum Alloy
• Creates 21% more surface cooling area
• 45% Less Volume
• 6.3 ounce ergonomic design

Tech Tip- How To Repair This
After inspection of this particular damage, it was apparent that it did not have an impact point. Therefore, to gain access to the damage one must drill into the glass 2/3rds of the way through the outer lite. This was done using a round tip (FG2) bur. Mount the bridge to the glass and place the injector over the hole you just drilled. Inject resin, making sure the resin flows all the way to the end of the crack. Apply curing tape along the crack to insure no air seeps back into the break. Remove bridge and apply one drop of pit resin and a curing tab to the drill hole. Cure the entire repair for 5 minutes. Scrape excess resin along the crack holding the razor blade at a 45 degree angle. Scrape excess resin over the filled drill whole holding the razor blade at a 90 degree angle. Apply pit polish and buff entire area for optimal clarity.
