“Well there goes what little insurance referrals I get.” That was the July 22 comment by Roo on the Windshield Repair Forum when he heard the news that Allstate Insurance was dropping Lynx Services as its third party administrator (TPA) and switching to Safelite.
Safelite has the unique position of being both a TPA of auto glass claims as well as a provider of windshield repair and replacement services, a position that makes independents wary to say the least.
Many consumers today know of windshield repair because of Safelite’s national radio campaign and, more recently, television campaign. Some technicians have reported the benefit of their own business picking up when these commercials start in their market while others have lost customers due to the nature of Safelite’s one-stop-shop business model.
Allstate had previously contracted with Lynx Services for the administration of auto glass claims, a relationship that lasted 11 years according to an article published in GlassBytes.
Lynx Service, Gerber National, Harmon Solutions Group, and SGC Network are the four largest TPAs for auto glass claims after the recent purchase of Alliance Claims by SGC Network.
