Do I run the risk of cracking the glass heating and cooling it?

Question:

Do I run the risk of cracking the glass by repeatedly heating and cooling it?

Answer:

In our testing, repeated heating and cooling of a damaged windshield, even if heating to lower temperatures, is far more likely to result in a crack out than using the Delta Kits Moisture Evaporator (Product # 24430) as instructed. Where many technicians experience difficulties is if they fail to warm the glass sufficiently prior to using the moisture evaporator. We prefer to heat the glass to well above 100 degrees Fahrenheit prior to using the moisture evaporator, and when doing so, we try to always heat an area several inches around the break. However, if there is a preferred method you choose, by all means do what works for you!
