Why does the pit resin come off the windshield?

Why does the pit resin come off the windshield when I pull off the curing film?

Answer:

Usually, this problem is a result of a prior application of wax, Rain-X or similar hydrophobic glass treatment. Use 0000 steel wool or a Delta Kits moisture evaporator to remove the treatment prior to repairing. Delta Kits pit polish; cerium oxide and pumice are also effective for removing hydrophobic coatings but take longer. Low-quality brands of pit resin have also been known to have this issue even when glass treatments are not present.
