Should I warm up the glass prior to the repair or during the repair?

Question:

Should I warm up the glass prior to the repair or during the repair?

Answer:

It is preferable to start with a warm windshield to ensure that moisture does not develop as a result of condensation in the break. However, if the windshield is preheated, the resin should also be preheated if it has been stored in a cool place. The idea is to keep the resin and glass at approximately the same temperature. Hot resin on cold glass or cold resin on hot glass can lead to cracking. Warming should always be done slowly and in an area several inches larger than the break itself. The colder the glass the more important this becomes.
